Charl van Wyk is an African missionary, survivor of the 1993 terrorist attack on St James Church, and the author of ‘Shooting Back – The Right and Duty of Self-Defense’.

He writes a monthly ministry newsletter and has had feature articles published by WND, an independent US news company.

He speaks internationally and has had numerous newspaper, magazine, radio and television interviews.

Charl lives in Cape Town, South Africa with his wife Sonja. They have four children.

Charl Van Wyk was just an ordinary Christian man until July 25, 1993 – the day that would become known as the St. James Massacre. Dave Cook holds certifications in both NRA Basic Pistol Instructor and Range Safety Officer, and acts as an instructor for NRA Basic Pistol certification courses at the Joe Foss Range in Buckeye, AZ.

Dave enjoys recreational shooting with his wife and their two children: a 16 year old son and 11 year old daughter, and has been an active participant in the shooting community including multiple shooting safety courses, hunting, and recreational shooting sports. Spanning from his early BB-gun-days as a boy, to high speed Practical Pistol competition with his son,  Dave has fired a round through nearly all types of firearms ranging up to and including a 105mm Howitzer cannon.

Dave has been an active member of USPSA Practical Pistol and 3-Gun matches for over 13 years, shooting thousands of rounds of ammunition alongside literally hundreds of shooters from 9 years old to 90 years old.   Having introduced any people to the world of firearms though one-on-one safety instruction and acting as an unofficial Range Officer under the watch of certified match directors drove him to pursue certification and instructor credentials to become more involved in bringing new shooters of all ages to the shooting sports.

John Correia is the founder and owner of Active Self Protection as well as head instructor.

He is a Christian, a US Navy veteran, a devoted husband and father, and former pastor in the Phoenix metropolitan area. He has been a firearms enthusiast his whole life, shooting and hunting from the time he was little. He is an avid shooter and hunter today as well as a martial artist with a 10-year earned black belt in his system of study.  John has been an NRA- and Arizona-state-certified firearms instructor since 2011.

John was born in Detroit; he is a first generation American. He grew up in Michigan on a dairy farm. He is the father of five sons. He received his First bachelors’ degree in Computer science From Otterbein College, Westerville, Ohio. He received his second bachelor’s degree in Political science from Ashford University earning magna cum laude. He has lived and worked for two years in the Mideast; Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. While there, He got involved with the people, learned their customs, learned how they think, and he learned what they respect and what they do not respect.
