John Petrolino is a U.S. Merchant Marine Officer, writer, firearms instructor, and author of Decoding Firearms: An Easy to Read Guide on Basic Gun Safety & Use.
Petrolino matriculated at Massachusetts Maritime Academy, where he received a BS in Marine Engineering.
Petrolino’s work on the 2nd Amendment has appeared primarily in BearingArm.coms, AmmoLand.com, News2A.com, ShootingNewsWeekly.com, and TheTruthAboutGuns.com. In 2024, Petrolino launched a product and travel review site, TheSquareReviews.com, where he serves as the publisher/editor-in-chief.
In 2022 Petrolino was awarded the “Media Figure of the Year” award by San Diego County Gun Owners PAC and the “Blogger of the Year” award by the Second Amendment Foundation. Petrolino was one of the 2024 recipients of the Coalition of New Jersey Firearm Owners “Patriot Pin.”
