Robert (Rob) Canterbury is the American First, Constitutional Conservative candidate for Maricopa County Board of Supervisors in District 4, currently held by Clint Hickman.
Rob is originally from West Virginia where he was raised on a small 70-acre family farm that has been in his family since 1862, and taking care of our farms and farmers here in Maricopa County is very high on his list. Growing up on a farm introduced Rob to hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, conservation of our natural resources and many great lifelong lessons. Rob joined the U.S. Navy 6 months after graduating high school and retired after 20 years of honorable service to our nation.
During Rob’s military career, he served as a diesel mechanic, military police officer at the U.S. Naval Academy, outdoor survival and hostage survival instructor, and spent 11 years in Naval Special Warfare units (Navy SEALs and SWCC). Rob made 2 combat deployments to Iraq with his SWCC Team and served as the Anti-Terrorism Officer of a SEAL Team in Coronado, CA, (the first non-SEAL to hold that position at his SEAL Team). During his Naval career, Rob received 17 medals, and the Volunteer Service Medal for his time volunteering with the San Diego Chapter of POW’s, placing American Flags on the gravesites of fallen service members and serving as a youth sports coach in baseball and football, is his most cherished. Thousands of volunteer hours go into being awarded this medal. After retiring from the Navy in February 2017, Rob moved to Washington D.C., where he started his career in the private security industry.
While in Washington D.C., Rob served as an armed security officer at several federal government buildings, served on the security force at the Saudi Arabia embassy, served as the head of security for the United Arab Emirates embassy and was the head of security for an estate that is owned by Saudi Arabian government called “Merrywood” which was built in the early 1900’s by former First Lady Jackie Kennedy’s step-father. First Lady Kennedy and President Kennedy stayed at this residence while transitioning to the White House after being elected President. Rob also served as a ‘bodyguard’ to several former and current Ambassadors to the U.S. and served on the security detail for top executives of the NRA. From August 2019 to July 2020, Rob served as the head of security for President Trump’s 2020 campaign headquarters in Arlington, VA, an experience that he will always be very thankful for.
Rob also met his wife Carolynne while in Washington D.C. Carolynne is a former U.S. Naval Officer, and a first generation Salvadoran American. Rob and Carolynne (hometown Phoenix) moved to the area in January 2021. Rob decided to run for Maricopa County supervisor to bring honor and respect back to the office and to regain the trust of the people once again. The top priorities for Rob are election integrity, saving and protecting our land and water resources, protecting our small business owners, school choice, keeping our county budget fiscally accountable, low taxes in the county, and he wants to set term limits to the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. Rob also serves as the Sergeant-at-Arms for both the Maricopa County Republican Committee and the Arizona GOP and is a graduate of the Glendale Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy and the FBI Citizen’s Academy.
