Ashley Mahaffey is an outdoorswoman, competitive shooter, and hunting guide, serving in leadership at the NRA Whittington Center, where she empowers others—especially women—to build skills, confidence, and tradition outdoors.
Ashley Mahaffey is an avid outdoorswoman who spends as much time as possible hunting, fishing, and camping. She’s a competitive shooter in both rifle and archery, a New Mexico-registered big game hunting guide, and an NRA-certified instructor in multiple disciplines, including rifle, pistol, shotgun, and range safety officer.
Her journey with the NRA Whittington Center started at just sixteen years old, working summers out on the ranges. What began as a seasonal job turned into a full career, giving her hands-on experience across nearly every part of the operation and eventually leading her into program leadership, including serving as Program Director.
One of the areas she’s especially passionate about is the Women’s Wilderness Escape program, where she helps coordinate and support an experience designed to introduce and empower women in the outdoors—blending shooting sports, outdoor skills, and confidence-building in a welcoming environment.
Today, Ashley continues to support the Whittington Center in a remote role, helping manage programs, digital platforms, and communications, while staying closely connected to the community she’s been part of for years.
She’s also actively involved with Women for Gun Rights, where she’s passionate about encouraging women to step into the shooting sports and stand confidently in support of the Second Amendment.
At her core, Ashley believes in preserving outdoor traditions, passing on knowledge, and helping others build confidence through real, hands-on experiences in the outdoors.
