Maj Toure is the Founder of Black Guns Matter (BGM), which is a group to help urban communities learn their gun rights and responsibilities.
Each BGM event includes demonstrations and discussions with experts including certified firearms instructors, lawyers, and Second Amendment activists. Throughout the nationwide BGM class, Toure, a Philly Hip Hop artist turned activist/Solutionary, sounds the alarm on politicians who espouse that urbanites should trust government to keep them safe, while, simultaneously, politicians have failed to do just that.
“The Second Amendment is color blind, and the human right to self-defense is meant for all people, including oft-forgotten individuals of urban communities,” says Maj Toure, BGM Founder and leader of the group’s 50 state tour.
To date, BGM has reached 17 urban communities from coast to coast including Philadelphia, Compton, Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, and Atlanta. BGM Tour is funded by donors from across the country via a GoFundMe campaign.
Maj is a Solutionary Hip Hop artist and activist from North Philly. His following began after he was featured on the cover of the Philadelphia Weekly as “the Prophet of Philadelphia.” He founded the Black Guns Matter movement in 2015 and advocates for 2nd amendment education and information for urban communities. Maj has been featured in the New York Times, Breitbart News, National Public Radio, and NRANews for his out of the box approach to 2nd amendment advocacy.
Nick is also the Founder and Executive Director of “The Foundation for Liberty and American Greatness” (FLAG), an organization dedicated to promoting American exceptionalism and combating anti-Americanism worldwide.
John Correia is the founder of Active Self Protection as well as head instructor. He is a Christian, a US
Navy veteran, a devoted husband and father, and pastors a church in the Phoenix metropolitan area. He has been a firearms enthusiast his whole life, shooting and hunting from the time he was little. He is an avid shooter and hunter today as well as a martial artist with a 10-year earned black belt in his system of study. John has been an NRA- and Arizona-state-certified firearms instructor since 2011.
Lara Cullinane Smith is the National Spokesperson for the Liberal Gun Club, a national organization which seeks to ensure an educated, liberal voice in debates on gun control and the Second Amendment.
Lara is also a lawyer in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her practice area is mainly business and commercial litigation, but she also helps FFLs and others in the firearms industry with their particular business issues. In the past, Lara has represented law enforcement in high-profile civil rights cases as well, including the shooter in the case that was the basis for the movie “Fruitvale”.
Says Lara, “I’m La former anti-gunner whose USMC husband convinced me to learn to shoot so I’d be better able to understand the arguments I was making. 2 1/2 years later, I’m the Vice President of the Liberal Gun Club, California Chapter, a member of the DC Project, and an amateur competitor in shotgun and rimfire, and am opening a chapter of a Girl and a Gun in the San Francisco Bay area. I also write and speak on Constitutional issues relating to firearms, and on California gun laws in particular. I own a wide variety of firearms and one of the best experiences of my life was helligunning at the Girl and a Gun National Conference this year.”
The mission of The Liberal Gun Club is to provide a voice for gun-owning liberals and moderates in the national conversation on gun rights, gun legislation, firearms safety, and shooting sports. The Liberal Gun Club serves as a national forum for all people, irrespective of their personal political beliefs, to discuss firearms ownership, firearms use, and the enjoyment of firearms-related activities free from the destructive elements of political extremism that dominate this subject on the national scale. The Liberal Gun Club also actively develop and foster a variety of programs for the purpose of firearms training and firearms safety education, for both gun owners and non-gun owners.
